Wavecomic

Wavecomic is a website that explains contemporary feminist vocabulary through social media and pop culture. Given how rapidly French vocabulary evolves and how frequently it draws from English terms, I wanted to assist high school students in understanding these fourth-wave feminist terms more effectively. My goal was also to help them grasp feminist issues within current contexts. By articulating phenomena and behaviors, we enhance our understanding and gain confidence in our judgments.

Everything is designed to make reading these articles a dynamic experience. This format, inspired by webcomics, combines articles, comics, memes, illustrations, photo editing, and GIFs in a vibrant, pop aesthetic. The color scheme, drawn from the feminist movement, provides a strong visual identity.

Through this project, I aimed to fully embrace my graphic style, influenced by Japanese manga and anime, recognizing that new generations are increasingly familiar with these references, just as my own generation was.

Working on photo editing was also crucial to spark readers' curiosity about a word by incorporating familiar faces and references from their culture.

The initial illustrated concepts include cancel, TERF and pick me. The Wavecomic website is accessible on all devices, from smartphones to computers. Additionally, a set of physical promotional materials, including flyers and stickers, features QR codes that provide access to the website.

Wavecomic also maintains social media accounts on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, which help us communicate and promote new publications by highlighting current topics covered in the latest articles. These channels are also an excellent way to engage with the community and foster interaction on social networks.
